<p>When I think of how technology has impacted society it is easy to see through things like commercials on TV. Here is a video of a commercial showing exactly what I mean.</p>

<p>The great thing about the cellphone is that there is a device called bluetooth headsets which can be used in the car while driving in order to talk to another person and be handsfree.</p>

<p>Not only are cellphones a major part of the mobile movement but so are little things like DVR which stands for Digital Video Recorder. The DVR can be ordered with just about any TV package you wish to purchase. With one click of a button you can record shows to watch at a later, more convenient time.</p>

<p>Another convenient tool is the laptop which has come pretty far since the 1970&#8242;s when it was first invented. I chose to own a MacBook Pro from Apple, although my purchase is an investment it is definitely worth the money.</p>

<p>The Apple website is very informative, if you have a question about any functions that come with the MacBook Pro they provide tutorials on just about everything.</p>
<p>I am thankful to the mass advantages of technology and how much easier they make my day-to-day life. Technology greatly  influences my work, school, and personal life.</p>

<p>Explanation:</p>
<p>I chose to create a slideshow of pictures that represent me and my life. I chose pictures of family, my boyfriend, friends, my animals and some places and objects that have a lot of meaning to me. I paired the pictures with a song that helps the viewer  understand more of who I am. I chose the song All American Girl by Carrie Underwood because I really connected with the lyrics and I like Carrie Underwood as an artist. I chose to do a slideshow instead of a video because I felt awkward when I was recording myself and I felt that I could better convey myself through a slideshow. Once I decided to do a slideshow I took advantage of my new Mac and used the iMovie program which turned out to be fairly easy, my only troubles were uploading my show onto wordpress. I first had to publish my iMovie and then send it to YouTube and then upload it onto wordpress, but in the end it was a success!</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>In the early nineteen hundreds America was a country with minimal ranges of technology compared to the twenty first century that we live in today. Technology has become a wide base for inventions that help make life’s hardships seem much easier and less complicated. In the average household you can find at least ten different items that fall under the category of technology. These items can be big or small but are all designed with one purpose: simplifying life. In my personal life I use a cell phone, computer, TV, and an iPod most commonly but without appliances like the microwave or washing machines I would be spending much more than an hour a day on my household chores. Technology has influence over many people through the use of their cell phones. I wouldn’t be able to operate normally without my cell phone at my side twenty four seven. Cell Phones are devices that make our communities mobile and help us to not be on such a tight time schedule. Advances in technology happen plenty often and are always forcing new purchases in order to keep up with the rapid movement of society.</p>
<p>I am an eighteen-year-old girl who attends a state college and works a part time job. My life is often so filled with activities that I don’t often notice how much technology I use and how it influences my life.  Being a college student just about requires an individual to own a laptop, I just recently purchased a Mac Book Pro from the Apple store. I use my computer for many different things such as the Internet, listening and downloading music, photos and word documents. Owning my own computer has given me a sense of respect for being able to quickly access a large amount of technology. The television is my favorite type of entertainment, when I come across spare time my favorite thing to do is to catch up on my recorded TV shows, not only can I turn on the TV whenever I want but thanks to technology I can record and save so many as twenty TV shows to watch at my later convenience. Since I am always on the go; usually travelling between school, work, and home, I use my frequently iPod while engaged in these activities. I love loading my iPod with new music to jam to while on a long ride or simply working out. It’s not a lie- music soothes the soul. During an average week I use a variety of technology just while I am at home, the microwave and fridge are used for food while the washer and dryer clean my clothes. I definitely appreciate my household appliances for doing all the hard work for me. By far the most influential piece of technology in my life is my cell phone; it is my personal way of communication with the world, along with many other cool devices it carries within it.  Technology aids my life all the time and I want to thank all those inventors out there who made it all happen.</p>
<p>The cell phone is an advanced device that has came a long way since the earlier nineteen twenties car phone.  The cell phone was invented by AT&amp;T in the mid nineteen forties and has been rejuvenated into today’s mass produced device used by billions of people across the world. Cell phones started out as a way of communication between two people, then there was a couple of different things added to the cell phone like a calculator and then texting was added; a quick typed message sent between cell phones. In the twenty first century, particularly the past five years, cell phones have made mountainous progress in becoming miniature smart phones. Smart phones have access to the Internet, can act as a MP3 device, they include a camera and even have voice dialing. By the age of twelve most children in America own a cell phone, making the device an item to have if you plan on living in a civilized area of the world.</p>
<p>Communication between friends, family, coworkers, and peers is essential to most people over the age of sixteen.  I have owned a cell phone since I was in the seventh grade, in these past years I have gone through five phones. Phone services, like my own Verizon Wireless service, update their selection of phones every couple of months making it impossible to try each new phone. Today I use my phone for calling, texting, Internet access, gaming, photos and a GPS system. My phone is always either in my pocket or purse, I never leave the house without it. On the occasion that I am distracted and my cell phone is left behind I literally feel anxious and extremely out of touch with everyone I am close with. I have asked friends if they feel the same and not one has disagreed. Cell Phones have become a huge item of technology that has influence over teens and adults. To get a different perspective on cell phones I asked my mother, who was born in nineteen sixty, about what it was like when there was no cell phones. She told me that parents trusted the fact that their children were safe and would be home on time. Instead of constantly being on the phone with family and friends people would wait to see each other at school or work. My mother said that these days when my sister or I are gone at night her cell phone sits on her nightstand waiting for either of us to call. You can see how the times have changed to become in a way more complicated because of technological advances rather than simpler and less worrisome.</p>
<p>I own a Blackberry Pearl from Verizon Wireless, my phone is equipped with a full keyboard and a large screen- the Blackberry Pearl is a smart phone. I pay thirty dollars extra per month to have Internet access anywhere I go; sometimes the websites I try to access are not compatible with my phone. On my smart phone I also have access to a GPS system that takes record of my current position and allows me to enter in my destination, whenever driving this is very helpful.  The Blackberry also allows email access at all times, my Internet emails get sent directly to my phone so I don’t have to wait to receive messages on my computer. My menu screen contains a couple different icons that represent fun and easy games that are provided free of charge to my phone. My smart phone has the capability of voice recording and dialing; I can also take and store pictures and videos.  The most used piece of technology that my phone offers is the texting capability. I use texting to keep in touch with my friends, or if I have to collaborate with peers on a projects texting is much quicker than email. Overall my cell phone is an equipped little machine that helps me stay in contact with people and can also keep me entertained. Even though my cell phone is an asset to my person, sometimes I find that the constant beeping of a message or an email can be annoying. Making me feel as though I can’t miss anyone and therefore don’t appreciate them in person as much as I would if I didn’t always text or talk to them on my cell phone.</p>
<p>Technology has become an advanced phenomenon that has swept the nation. With all these new devices and applications American society has become vastly mobile. No longer do we have to schedule our evenings around TV shows, just click record, nor do we have to wait at home for that important call, it&#8217;s a beautiful thing called cell phones. People have limitless technology at their fingertips, there is no need to stay in your comfort zones anymore. Just remember that all technology comes at a price, but if your willing to pay your options are never ending.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Little Brother by Cory Doctorow is an intriguing and futuristic novel. The main character Marcus Yallow is a teenage boy living in San Francisco who is targeted as a terrorist because of his advance knowledge of technology. I think the most interesting and important aspect of the novel is that Marcus is trying to advance and let free the locks on technology and therefore human liberties but the government is accusing him of being a terrorists. In the Declaration of Independence it states &#8220;That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it&#8221;, Marcus is trying to do just that. All the people around Marcus don&#8217;t understand that the government is suffocating the people by spying and watching there every move. Marcus is trying to free the people and let them know what the Government has kept from them for there own use. The novel also shares some parallels with the book call 1984, both books talk about the government being &#8220;protective&#8221; over society by watching everyone all the time, everything they did was monitored and recorded.</p>
<p>A scene that exemplifies that the government is overbearing on citizens and there rights is when Marcus and his three friends get captured by Home Land Security, and are held hostage. The kids are beaten and threatened by the government.</p>

In the average household you can find at least ten different items that fall under the category of technology. These items can be big or small but are all designed with one purpose: simplifying life. In my personal life I use a computer, cell phone, TV, and an iPod most commonly but without appliances like the microwave or washing machines I would be spending much more than an hour a day on my household chores. The use of an automobile is also very important in my daily life, without it transportation to one place or the next would be very time consuming. <p>Dependency on cell phones and technology in American society is frightening to me. Most people experience a sense of paranoia or extreme anxiety when without their mobile device, all the reliance on technology makes you wonder where the peace went? In my experience of watching and being with my friends, when they are without there phones they always (never fails) ask to use my phone, or they wish to cancel current plans to go home and charge their phones in order to be back in the mobile world. I assure any person that they will not DIE without their phone for a couple of hours; anyone who was messaging them can wait and will have to understand their situation.   I want to go a day without my phone and be able to feel content in my relaxation. Culture pressures young adults to have the latest devices that will enhance their life, but at what cost to their humanity? I say respect technology and its limits because advances can only go so far before humanity is lost.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Gaming has become a big thing in the past couple of decades, coming all the way from black and white screens with up, down, left, and right keys all the way to games that resemble real life with extensive graphics. I personally don&#8217;t play online games, mostly because I am too busy with other activities and I find online games to be  difficult and time consuming. I wouldn&#8217;t be against playing games that have to do with education, if a game stimulates my brain to be interested I would easily learn the subject matter. Games enhance your hand eye coordination and that is a useful skill for many careers. I think people play games for personal awards, meaning having satisfaction when they complete a level or master the game. People may play online games to simply past time or if they are bored. I know people get addicted to gaming and it can consume their time for the most part of everyday until they conquer the game. When I think of playing games, I think of sitting around a table with a bunch of friends or family and playing a board game like Monopoly. The only games I play are on my ITouch and thats because their free and quick to learn.</p>

One of my favorite sites is <a href="http://photobucket.com" target="_blank">photobucket.com</a> , I use photo bucket to organize my photos and to adjust the pictures to my liking. Photo Bucket is a credible site because thousands of people use this site in order to upload and share photos and videos. Photo Bucket&#8217;s credibility can also be checked by clicking on their link at the bottom of the webpage that says about us, under the link you can read about Photo Bucket&#8217;s history, what the site offers to customers, and the company facts and figures. One thing that i really appreciate about Photo Bucket is that is very user friendly, signing up and using the site is free of charge and once your a member  uploading pictures and editing them is as easy as one, two, three.</p>
<p>Whenever I am writing papers or blogging and I can&#8217;t remember how to spell a certain word I use <a href="http://dictionary.com" target="_blank">dictionary.com</a>. I am a horrible speller, dictionary.com has helped me so many times, even when I am reading online articles and I can&#8217;t think of what a word means I quickly use this helpful resource. Dictionary.com is not only an online dictionary but also a thesaurus, an encyclopedia and a translator. I know dictionary.com is a credible site because not only is it a widely used, but it also references other websites that can be linked to words to help explain more about their meaning. Dictionary.com is shown to be credible because it has contact information if your needing to get in touch with the company, also is has a copyright date, privacy policy, and a terms of use. Dictionary.com also provides an ongoing record of number of words searched per day. This site is very relevant and useful to me and without it I would be spending a lot more time checking my old webster.</p>
